About
Plastic injection moulding is a ubiquitous, vital industrial manufacturing process. However, operators face the perennial challenge of oxidised oil deposits (“varnishing”) forming on the machinery. This results in system malfunctions such as valve jamming and causes downtime for repairs, cleaning, and off-line filtration. Clearly, varnishing costs money and reduces output; but there is another consideration – sustainability. Synthetic ester-based hydraulic fluid protects machinery, reduces deposit formation, and enhances performance without compromising the fluid’s environmentally friendly credentials. Results will be shared from testing at in-service plastic injection moulding manufacturers. For example, field tests have shown a reduction of greater than 80% in particles for greater than 9,000 operational fluid hours following a fluid change to a synthetic ester hydraulic fluid.

Sustainability is a pressing consideration across all industries. This talk will explore, using real-world examples, how synthetic ester-based hydraulic fluid offers a viable, proven alternative that addresses the cost/output problems and offers a new approach in plastic injection moulding operations – an approach that encompasses sustainability imperatives such as extending asset life, increasing fluid longevity, reducing maintenance and repair costs and optimising output.
