The Polymer Processing Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship from Tiro is designed for anyone involved in the manufacture of polymer products — from injection moulding and extrusion to compounding and rubber processing. It develops operators who don't just follow instructions, but understand the materials and processes they're working with.
Apprentices build skills across process safety, polymer science, equipment operation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. They learn to set up and monitor production lines, troubleshoot issues in real time, reduce scrap, and keep processes running efficiently. Delivered through a blend of online learning, in-person training, and hands-on workplace coaching, the programme leads to a Level 3 Polymer Processing Technician qualification and eligibility for professional registration with the Science Council as a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech).
Lasting 19 months and attracting up to £25,000 in government funding, this apprenticeship is suitable for new starters and existing employees alike, in roles such as Process Operator, Injection Moulding Technician, Plastic Extruder, Production Technician, and Polymer Process Setter.
